the loss

so.... my basketball team lost in the semifinals. it was a hard game for all of us, it seemed like we all had a bad night at the same time.

since we lost, Mortons team was playing the "mean green team". the mean green team....... was less than kind to us. they were more than lightly violent and didnt have the best attitudes. so, my mom and i decided to go and see the championship game last night. although the green team was undefeated, the red team (Mortons team) pulled out a win by like 4 points!!!!! Morton was easily the high scorer, she probably had like 3/4 of her teams points!!!

after the game i had the opportunity to talk to Morton for the first time ever!!!!!! it was really fun to actually get to know her since this entire season i have felt like i knew her..... even though i didnt haha. Kelsey and i have decided we need to try and convert this girl, she is so sweet!!! she would make a great member!!!! so the plan is to convert her, get her to play on our church team, and dominate everyone ;)

On a more serious note, i was extremely impressed with supergirl, i have never seen her lose her temper on the court. she plays in a very classy way!!! i only hope someday, i will be as good as she is at basketball!!!!

church basketball

hey just an FYI..... my church basketball team (coached by my mom) is in the semi finals of the tournament! the game is 6:00 on Tuesday the 8th, against a team we have already beat 3 times! but, they are coming with a vengeance, its hard to beat a team 4 times in only 2 months!!!!!!

if we win on tuesday, the championship game will be on thursday against a team we have lost to twice. might i add the only team we have lost to twice. and in one game, the refs were unbelievable and we should have won. i am not kidding, ask anyone who was there!

guess what

i just got into a Scientific research class!!!! there are not a lot of spots at our school, actually only about 10 if you cannot find your own mentor, soi am thrilled to be in! my project will be through a guy named Jason down at the zoo, and i will be working with the lions! my job is basically going to be that over the summer and fall semesters i will log about 6 hours a week down at the zoo observing the behavior of the lions. these lions are moving into a new habitat at the end of the summer, and i will observe changes in their behavior and analyse the data to determine if i think the new habitat is sufficient for their needs and if they are happy. i am so pumped about this class!!!!!!!! it is going to be a blast!

this week has been super busy but super fun!

for lacrosse i am still waiting on the boys team coach to call our athletic director back to let us know when we can practice which is more than a tad frustrating since we are way behind on practicing since the season already started.

school...... is taking over my life. and i kind of enjoy the challenge of it, you know how competitive i am! but.... i do not like homework and studying that much! oh, and i got a 74 on my AP biology test!!!!!!! i know it is a sad day when i am proud of a D+, but i am really excited about it! i went through and figured out to get an A i need exactly a 54 on each test, and an 87 on the final (it gets a curve of about 30 points), so i am happy to start out on the right foot!

guess what.... i had a party at my house saturday! actually it wasnt really my party..... one of my friends did most of the planning! she just wanted it 2 be at my house since it is a good house for parties! and more importantly..... Carter came!!!!!!!!!! it was so fun to get to have my cousin hang out with us all!!!! i love him so much! i would say he is my favorite.... but i love all of my cousins so much and in different ways! but it sure is fun to have a cousin who is (semi) close to you in age to hang out with!

basketball game 4

today, our team got to play in another game! we played the "red team" whom we beat by 1 a few weeks ago. this time, we were ready to go with a box and 1 to play on their star player, who we refer to as super girl at practice since we dont know her first name, although according to her jersey her last name is  Morton. at practice when dad was acting as Morton, he had a little too much fun with being referred to as super girl :)

so as im sure you guessed, i was super girls shadow today. the entire game, neither of us ever came out. i face guarded her extremely tightly, and honestly spent [probably 70% of the game staring at her face. on defense i played tight and never took my eyes off her. never. i had no clue where the ball was, but i ALWAYS knew where she was. and it worked, she only scored 2 points while i was guarding her, but had 4 in transition and 2 when one of our girls fouled her. on offense, i also had the privilege of being with my friend because she was at the top of a 2-3 zone and i did alot of aimless dribbling to waste time with her standing right in front of me.

sadly, since i was totally worn out from being with supergirl, i didnt do too much on offense. i had 6 quick points at the beginning and then only scored once more. it didnt matter though, we went up quick and stayed there! we did have one scare, with 2 minutes left they cut our lead to 3, but Kaitlyn stepped up and hit big short corner shots to seal the game for us!

this was one of the most fun games ever! and i made friends with Morton! i guess that happens when you spend an hour staring at someones face haha, but she was very nice and complimented me and our team as well, and helped me up a few times when i got knocked down (im on the ground alot).

i cant wait to play this team again!

bball and bio

so yesterday, our church team had our 2nd game...

and we won!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was a great game! we won by 1, it was a nail biter! it might have been the most fun I've had playing a basketball game in my life.... its debatable though ha ha. made even more fun by all the support there! almost the entire green lds team (our other team) was there for the second half, as well as many parents! all the langfords were there as well! i am really glad for all that support, the game came down to the wire and i was feeling the pressure!

ps.... for all those at the game, who saw my end of the game drives trying 2 draw fouls... and the falls i took ha ha, i have some insane bruises on my knees! ;) i got a little lecture about being careful about how i fall so i don't injure myself!

now.... on to the bio part.... this class is torture, DON'T TAKE IT!!!!! i really enjoy the subject biology and i guess saying the class is torture don't take it is an over exaggeration...... but really, it is crazy the amount of time our teacher expects you to put in. let me give you insight..... this weekend i have to do quite a few things since i am only going to be assigned more stuff during the week and i highly doubt ill have time to do any of this if i don't get it done this weekend.... especially since this is just one class.

a "long lab report" which consists of a 15 page packet full of essay form questions, and i also have 2 do multiple other things, wont go into detail, but it takes approx. 5 pages typed, single space, 12 font. due Thursday
i also have a "short lab report" which is a 5 page packet and a few graphs and charts showing the data from the lab and i have to look at the pictures of about 150 cells and decide if they are in prophase metaphase anaphase or telophase. due Tuesday.
then i have to read a 15 page chapter in the textbook and fill out a 3 page packet with notes from it. by Monday.
i also have a test on unit one on Thursday. and her tests are meant to prepare you for the AP test.... from what i have heard a 60% on the AP test will earn you a 4 which is accepted as credit at any schools. it is a very solid score. thankfully, she assigns tons of work to pad your grade so you can afford to fail tests.

and finally, due 10 days is an abstract. these are really truly torture. you take a 5+ page scientific article from an approved source and write a paper on it. sounds easy right? ya...... except i cannot even comprehend these articles, writing a paper on them is out of the question!

if anyone happens to be skilled at biology.......... please let me know!!!!!!!!!! i could very much use some knowledge!

snow day 3

so today was the 3rd day in a row that we have gotten off school! and... im not quite sure how i feel about that. i have a pretty rigorous schedule this semester and i kind of just want to get it over with, one day was nice, 2 days were kinda fun but bittersweet, 3 is too much. granted, there are some roads that are still bad so i understand why school is off, mom and i came to a road totally iced over just today. but at the same time, the more i miss school the more rushed we will be in my classes and the more homework i will have. and i do not like homework. not one bit. but, i guess i should enjoy the blessing of sleeping in while i have it!

jess

so guess what the brilliant jessica recently discovered?

WE ARE RELATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

apparently she was at the cruzes admiring their wonderful family tree they have on the wall, and noticed they were a direct line from Newel Knight. and so was she. so she decided to investigate. after lots of work she found out that our great grandparents were siblings, and we have the same great great grandparents!!! that makes us what.... 6th cousins? whatever it is ill take it! i am so excited to be related to them, they have the funniest family ever and they are all so sweet!

snow day!!!

so today while me and trey were watching the kids we took them to see the new Narnia movie and then we went through the stake and shake drive thru. why did we have to go through the drive through? BECAUSE WE ARE HAVING THE SNOW OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its only 5 and I'm pretty positive were out of school, trey said its all over face book

when we walked out of  the theater we were all shocked because apparently the whole time we were in there, it was snowing! and not just any old Knoxville flurry either, I'm talking Utah sized snow flakes!!!!! they were consistently the size of a 50 cent piece and bigger! while that only lasted a few minutes, it started again as we got home, and i would say we have a good inch and a half in only about 3 hours!

i got some incredible pictures with our hi def camera, but sadly i have no clue how to load them to our normal computer, i only know how to do it on the Mac and that would just to too plain difficult to figure it all out, so my blog will have to remain picture free. for you Utah family, soon i will get measures on how deep the snow ends up!

my parents

today, my parents have been married 20 years!!!!!!!

that's alot of years. so, we kids decided to do a few things. the triplets and i made 6 different kinds of pancakes (so they could have lots of choices), smoothies, and cut up fruit for breakfast in bed for them. we tried to make it look all nice and pretty but it didn't turn out quite as well as we thought..... still good though!

i also write a poem for them, although i will admit i kind of cheated. i used the Internet to get ideas and then wrote it kind of based of a poem called best marriage, although my poem was very different, and called eternal marriage. i even wrote a whole stanza thing by myself which took quite alot of effort let me tell you its not as easy as it looks!!!

my dad ordered flowers for my mom, 20 roses (for 20 years) to be more specific. my daddy is so sweet!

my parents are also going to go to Grove Park Inn, where massages, manicures and pedicures await. i think my parents have gone there for every anniversary, at least every one that i can remember!

finally, the kids all made a pact not to fight for as long as possible.

on a different note, last night we had Stoner's over and it was insanely fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love their whole family so much, they are all so fun and sweet! i am determined that we must all be related some day, so i guess Matthew and Sydney have to marry ;)

isn't it hard to believe we have to go back to school tomorrow? i am really not looking forward to it! my classes are Gov/cont. Issues, Honors Spanish , Honors English, and AP Biology. its gonna be rough but i think ill make it, it will just be time consuming. sadly, i may have to pick to do either track or lacrosse :( i wish i could do both, but my parents do not think it is feasible and i have to agree with them, even if i don't want to.

church ball

so as I'm sure most of you know, this year sister ray and kah decided its about time our girls had the opportunity to play some basketball in a fun and relaxed setting and decided to see if we could get enough girls to start a ward church team since my dad started a guys team when trey was a freshman.

trust me, we had more than enough girls interested!!! we had i think it was 22 or 23 girls commit to playing, but the stake wasn't quite ready tot take the step to have stake sports. so, our leaders entered us in a local Methodist league.

so far the team has been SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! its amazing how all the girls bond while were playing ball, girls who outside of practice wouldn't talk to each other too much, not because they don't like each other or anything but just cause of age difference or whatever have become friends and it is an absolute blast and a blessing for everyone involved!

i am on a team with about 10 or 11 others girls, coached by my mom and sister Kah.to be honest, both of our teams..... stink. but we sure have fun doing it! in the exhibition games to place our teams in the upper or lower skill division, it was clear where we belong, but i have not had more fun with virtually all of our young women in a long time, there was a big sense of camaraderie!

I LOVE CHURCH SPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
