lax part 2

so my 2 friends who were starting a team at farragut did not end up suceeding and one gave up. so, i took her spot and my other friend continues to try and work the money issues while i do more with getting sponsers and doing the things through the school, although she most definetly does more than her fair share!!!!

since our original sponsor was unable to fulfill the commitment to 3-4 practices a week and 5 games, 2 of which away (nashville or chatanoooga or atlanta) and 3 home, we are going to try and do 2 things. they are, convince our athletic director not to require the teachers to be at away games, and 2nd, get 3 teacher sponsors instead of 1, so they each go to one practice a week.

originally, we were alll under the impression teachers did not need 2 b at EVERYTHING the team did, since that is what the other teams always end up doing if there sponsor is not the coach, but technically they are supposed to be there, so we are not allowed to tell them in reality no one cares if there not there.

this whole ordeal has been a little bit frustrating and a bit harder than i thought it would be, but very rewarding also,we hope very soon it will be all worth it, and well get a team! i can only imagine how rewarding it will be to have our hard work pay off :) the season starts in a month, and most of the people on the team will not have ever played before so we really need 2 get moving!!! haha this team will be a learning experiance for us all :) and make hisstory by being the first in knox county! and maybe even more im not sure, i sure am glad i got convinced to give this a try!

inspired

ok, so after reading jessica's incredible and thought-provoking blog about thanksgiving, i have decided its time for a serious post about what i am thankful for, although it may be devoid of pictures :(

my family, my parents who love me no matter what and teach me everything there is to no. who show me how to have a successful marraige and never stopped loving each other or us kids even for a split second. who are patient and kind and loving and lead by example and do their best to teach us what we need to know to be successful in this life and the next.

trey, who is the most amazing person i have ever met and deserves all the credit in the world (although my parents get some too). everyday he gives me a glimpse of how to be like christ was.

for the triplets, the miracle babies, who remind me constantly that God has a hand in our lives, and who help me to be patient and loving

for my dog Koa who shows me what it means to be a true and faithful friend

for my Grammy, who has spent alot of time with me over the years, especially when my mom was in the hospital. so much time, so wrote a book about it. and gave it to me. so i can read it. and i do. who has taught me to be kind to everyone, and who is always happy and cheerful

for my Grandpa Barber, who is the perfect example of what a man should be. he loves his wife and kids, he is honest, he is the hardest worker i know, he is humble, and he is a spiritual giant.

for my grandmother sexton, who loves me as much as possible, and would do almost anything for me, and gives my family and i an opportunity to try to be missionaries and help her.

for my grandpa sexton who has taught me how to deal with people, and taken care of trey and i many times (along with grandmother) who (along with grandmother) used to take us out to eat every friday so our parents could have date night. who, along with grandmother, gives a home to the puppy i call my own.

for julie and allen, who have always been willing to have me with them, and treated me as their own at many times. who have been examples to me in how to treat your spouse and children, and how to have a good time. who have given me the opportuntiy to be the best of friends with their children.

for carter and jared, who may be younger than me age wise, but are 15 in maturity. who love a good time and have taught me to relax and have fun. who have taught me how to love your siblings unconditionally. who show me how to forgive and forget, and can always make me smile. who may be all big and tough, but will still give me a hug every time i see them.

for claire, who is my little princess. whenever i see her, i am reminded of how we are asked to be as little children are. how we should love everyone perfectly, forgive and forget, and honor our parents. she is an example to me.

for Lori and Scott, who also show me how to be a good parent and spouse. who somehow manage to balance all that is going on in their lives and still have time for family. who show me that you need to prioritize in life and devote more time to those things that are important.

for emma and ben, who are some of the sweetest kids i know. who are always up for a hug or cuddling up on the couch. who are some of the best kids around.

for josh and lydia, who are cute beyond measure, and never fail to cheer me up on a bad day.

for afton who teaches me about perserverance. even if she doesnt like me now.... she will someday :)

for my uncle cameron, who always gets back up when hes down. who never quits and always puts his kids first

for nathaniel and olivia, who have been through some hard things but are happy nonetheless. who always give their all to anything they do.

for joel and jenica and silas and koen and hale and jonah, who are an example of faithfulness to me, even from utah. who have the cutest kids in the world and allowed me to stay with them for a while in utah. who threatened to take down Becker when he sent me down a black diamond alone on my first ski trip :)

for brad, susan, andrew and sam, who i had a ton of fun staying with. who gave me the opportunity of a lifetime by letting me take a few classes at BYU, where i dream of going to college. who have the nicest baby, Sam, who likes me!!!! who have a sweet little boy named andrew who taught me lessons on love and kindness in the few short days i was with him. who all have an unforgetable energy and zeal.

for troy and dan, who have never failed to give an incredibly memorable gift whether it be a birthday or christmas, showing their generosity and love for their family. who may not live close by, but never fail to impress when here, and share my passion for soccer!

for all of my many good friends who i have met through church, school, and sports. who have never failed to be able to cheer me up. who have taught me how to solve problems and how to be a good friend. who have taught me to be humble and see my own faults first.

for all the blessings God has given me, family and friends, faith, talents, and a good financial situation.

for the talents God has given me to develop. for my love of music, whether playing, singing, or writing. for my athletic gifts, and the people i have met as a result of them. for my determination which will help me get wherever i want to go in life.

for my faith in His church, for my knowledge that i will see Him again soon. for my knowledge that families are forever, the greatest gift i could ever ask for. for the opportunity i have to share it with others everyday. for the challenge of sharing it with my grandparents.

for my very favorite song in the whole world, A Child's Prayer. for the many others i love, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Gaurd Him Joseph, Mary Did You Know, Breath of Heaven, i Know That My Redeemer Lives, I am a Child of God, I am His Daughter, Lord i Would Follow Thee, What Child is This, Colorblind, 100 years, Friends and Family by Trik Turner, and many more.

for the Book of Mormon, which i try to have guide everything i do. which is my example in life, and that i can turn to it in times of need and find help and comfort. for prayer, and the many times mine have been anwsered.

for churches, and the support within. for the great friends, leaders, and examples found inside. for the love felt for everyone there, no matter what.

for my health, and the health of those around me. for the incredible story of the triplets.

for having my Dad as my seminary teacher. where i go every morning at 640, much to the awe of many peers. one of the biggest blessings in my life. the opportunity to put on the armor of God every morning before school. for learning lessons about life and scripture from one of the people closest to me.

for the time God has given me on this earth, and the people he has put here with me. for the family he gave me, and the opportunities as well as challenges and hardships, which always seem to turn out for the better.

for Hoops for Hope, which has taught me so much about what it means to love, and what it means to be happy. for the incredible experiance it always proves to be. for the sweet children who get to have the time of their lives and teach the rest of us so much.

for all the blessings i have that i dont have time to list, but am thankful for with all my heart.

and most importantly, for my Savior, who died on the cross for me. who went through so much so that i could be forgiven of my sins and return to live with him and our Father. who loves me unconditionally and will be my advocate in heaven. who was the perfect example on earth, and who is my big brother

lax

so i was asked to play on the first ever FHS girls lacrosse team this coming spring that a few of my friends are starting since im a fairly athletic person. in order to prepare to play i figured i had to learn the rules of the game, so today for 5 hours i went to a free lax clinic put on by some great coaches and college players for a bunch of girls of all skill levels, most of them were on the team coached by the head honcho at the clinic.

it was tons of fun and i am really looking forward to playing in the spring with farragut, but i found out i will most likely be playing "fall ball" as well with the knox county team, one of the few competitive teams in the area. after the clinic the coach asked if i would like to join the team which practices a few times a week and travels a few weekends for tournaments. i believe i will be accepting his offer, but i wont be able to practice with them on wednesdays because of church. and i was invited to go to a tournament in 2 weeks but i cant, il b in NYC! although i am planning on going to  1 or more in november if i can get a ride since my parents obviously cant bring me. also, i am going to have 2 pay for my own girls lax stick, if any1 would happen to have a high quality stick they could sell me cheap...... give me a call!!!

Hoops for Hope

Officially the best thing ever. this year i was in charge of the silent auction among other things. The silent auction raised 900$ and consessions and the raffle and tshirts raised another 1100$. sucess!!!! plus, i got to talk to lots of important people, and Cathy, the Director of Basketball Operations for the Lady Vols remembered my name from our last meeting! i am getting to be fairly comfortable around the LV, i hope that eventually i can consider them my friends, they are very easy to get to know

got back from camp, it was a lot of fun..... but i wouldnt be in a hurry to get back!

we slept on a clasroom floor, and ate cafeteria food. our main staple was chips and fruit and cereal, with no milk. they ran out after one day. but it  was good and we went undefeated! that means no Tango Bravo!!!!

Friday, June 18, 2010

so guess what?

as of today i realized that i am going to shelbyville on sunday for a team basketball camp. before i go on let me explain, there will be one game that night when we get there (its 5 hours away) but i had dad call and talk to my coach, who already knew from last year i was mormon. so he agreed that i would not play, and just hang out? watch from bench, or if i felt more comfortable come up the next day. that wont happen, dad isnt gonna drive 10 hours for no reason!!! anyway, we are leaving around 11, so ill go to sacrament meeting with the pellissippi ward. where were staying, who im rooming with, wat i should pack, how many games i will play, ect. still remains a mystery to all of us! i will get back on wednesday.

i am so happy my coach was so understanding about the whole sunday thing, there are only 6 JV players right now and i play about 30 minutes a game (we all do) so missing it is not a small thing, we will face teams of 15 with only 5 ourselves. "quality over quantity!" weve only heard that one a hundred times this last week haha

Sunday, June 13, 2010

i got my personal progress award today!!!! after 3years of hard work i did it!!!!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

so guess what? today i started our JV game and i played over a quarter in the Varsity game. but... that was only because our point gaurd hurt her ankle, and we werre winning by a good bit, theres another sophmore and junior and a senior still ahead of me on the totem pole of gaurds. but, it was FUN!!!!

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

so, we just had our first summer game under out new JV coach.

we won against anderson county by 3, and you all know my dad played there. we won by 3, it was a good game! i played alot, even tho we had 2 play down 2 juniors, we were missing a freshman so otherwise we would have only had 7 people. it was very relaxed, as summer games are. the Powell coaches reffed it, and called nothing, but no one cares.

i dont really have alot to say....if you have a ? i guess just ask, it really wasnt all that interesting. we have another game 2moro at11, and our varsity has had like 3 games a week. the worst is yet to come, at the webb camp, the poor players who play both JV and varsity play 5-6 games a day. and that means either 8-2ish or 2-8 ish. and the games are 40 minutes, instead of traditional 32. and for all freethrows we just shoot one and if u miss it 2 bad, you "missed both" and vice versa

grades

ok, so i officially have an A in both Home Ec and Computer Applications, wat an accomplishment! i took the finals today... i am done!

In honors biology, i have a 93.21 with the 3 points, and we have yet to recieve the grades from our state wide EOC (20 % of our grade) which i am confident i got a 96 + on, and tomorrow we have a 100 point test on taxonomy and anatomy that i have heard is killer. cross my fingers for a good grade on the Test tommorow!

In world history, i have a teacher who has never taught anything but AP classes. its a CP class, so no extra points. right now i have a 90.59, but i should have a 91, she have my group a 53 on a project. what happened is she chose who had 2 present it and of course she chose a senior and a sophmore who are retaking the class again.... and failing again. so the whole group fails, the class high was a 58, and she decides that we cant drop that grade because its not a test, its a projet. who cares that its worth the same amount of points and any other teacher would let you do it! so im keeping a 53 and dropping an 84, my lowest test grade. i have to get a 100 on the binder check, which i will, that is just giving her your binder and her seeing that you have kept every grade you ever got from her, all your other worksheets, and all your notes, and then get a 96 or above on the state wide EOc, worth 20 % of our grade. thankfully, since its a CP class, i can get up to a 115 on the final.

this is because they pick 5-7 questions that they throw out because lots of people missed them. and, if a CP student got it right, they get extra credit for it. example.... in algebra in 8th grade i got a 106 on the test. and i was terrible at algebra. i retook the class in high school. and got a 99 out of 100 on the final, since i waws honors you cant get over a 100.

WISH ME LUCK!

so close

our tema was in the finals of the JV district tournament against Mcminn Central.... a team which goes to state every single stinking year. early in the season, they beat us by 4. a little background... we were missing one of our 4 sophmores. it was 9 in the morning and we had no idea we had a game until the night before at our game. because our coach ahd been in and out of the hospital. but we played.

then, the ref is terrible. whit and caylee foul out. everyone is in pain from cheap shots. and in a huddle, whit decides to inform us why the ref hates our guts. she and her boyfriend just had a rough break up. she did it. and the ref.... was his dad. ouch. but, as farragut, i dont think we have ever played in a game with fair refs. ever. ever. so, we lost. but we should have won.

we were pretty confident going in. were good and we know it. more trashy refs, but not bad enough to blame the loss by any stretch of the imagination like last time. but we started off shaky and were down most of the game. last quarter we had the lead, lost it, got it back, ect. beginning of 4th, whit fouls out on another cheap foul. it just seems like refs hate her, and she happens to be our best player. 30 seconds left, our ball, down 1. BIG PLAY!!! we pass it down low to a post because she had a weak side defender who was no match for her. strong side helped over, our girl got fouled, and missed a short corner shot. not at all a gimme, it was difficult. and of course a ref cant call that kind of foul with so little time left. so it goes uncalled. we naturally fould them asap. 12 ticks left, a post is shooting 2. makes first. oh great. there up 2. AIRBALLS the second. we have ball under there goal, 10.7 seconds left. the whole play is go down, have a specific wing who i will not mention, just as i did not mention the post, shoot a 3, hopefully with enough time for our posts to rebound a miss. she decides she doesnt want to shoot and passes it. our girl isnt ready because that wasnt the play. pass is over her head. she jumps, gets in a scramble for the ball, and time.... runs.... out.

hard loss for a championship game, and we had more than one girl really upset in the locker room. but, i feel strongly that it is no ones fault. yea, some people may have messed up at the end, but everyone messed up at some point. any missed layup could have given us the 2 points to win. any bad pass could have never happened saving us a possession. but, thats the way it turned out. oh well.

nathaniel...

id like to take a moment to brag on my crazy good cousin. he happens to be 11 years old, and i believe he started playing at the middle school before he was in middleschool. this is becasue he plays for homestead, and did last year. and last year he was in 4th grade.

anyway, there was a free throw shooting contest with a few area schools, i assume middle school aged. he won. then, he went to regionals. he won, making 23 of 25 free throws. now, hes going to state. guess whos gonna win? nathaniel. cause thats how he rolls.

also as i recall hearing from cam (his dad and coach) in a recent game he scored 22 of his teams 27 points. the kid can shoot the three ball better than me. and i play high school. hes going places. and now i can prove i knew him.... JK!!!! me and him are tight, he'll give me courtside seats to all his pro games, and have me on the bench at college ones :)

the dance

so we had a church dance on wednesday night. it was bi stake, with ours and the cumberland in attendance. once there, we had boring mixers ect in between the fun real dances, whether they were fast or slow.

i had a little wager going with savannah..... 2 points for every guy you ask to dance, 1 for every one that asks you. i danced every single dance, asking a guy to dance everytime it looked like no one was coming my way. since i danced over twice as much as sav, i obviously won the 5 dollar bet. fun fun fun! who new how enjoyable it would be if i asked guys and got more involved?

best dance of the night....someone made the mistake of asking hannah for the last dance. so i ended up with ty. a little bit into it, i noticed a girl who was a little different who i wasnt sure had danced at all that night hanging out alone in the corner. so, naturally i had ty go ask her. then, i found a similar guy and danced with him. PRICELESS!!!!

anyway, afterwards we went to menchies and ate and hung out, then got back around 11:30.

Friday, January 1, 2010

ugh...

so instead of going to a mountain cabin with my family, i decided to go to the UT bowl game against Virginia Tech. i went with my grandparents, uncle cam, and cousins nathaniel and olivia. we had tons of fun, eating linner at hardrock and hanging out in our 61st floor room of the Weston, our fancy hotel. ask me for details, we discovered some funny stuff. so we went to the game and we lost and everyone around us was drunk, but it was fun anyway. we hung around after and nathaniel and i scaverenged for souveniers. we got some eric berry posters, pom poms, and other little nick nacks as well as between 25-30 chickfila cows. not only did they parachute down during the game, there was one in each cupholder. then, back at out hotel, i got sick around 1 and spent the night barfing up hot fries. fun. we think it was the mini pizza i had at the game.

about the hotel....... at the cafe, the continental breakfast was 21 bucks! geez! it had 78 stories! they had mini individually wrapped mints everywhere. and, these are like bead sized mints. it had terraces. that you could go in. instead of plastic thingies of jelly jam and honey, they had little glass bottles all sealed up, one use sized. i brought a bunch home :)
